2020-2021 Hope Scholars Eligibility, Dates, and Information
Eligibility
Students are eligible for the Hope Scholars Program under the circumstances below. There is no age cap for Hope Scholars. Students can start applying after they have submitted their SIR (Statement of Intent to Register) to UC San Diego.
- Current or former foster youth
- Homeless Youth
- Formerly incarcerated youth
- Other disconnected youth. Cases will vary. Please contact the coordinator for questions
Summer Experience
Hope Scholars will offer a Virtual Summer Experience for our incoming cohort of freshmen and transfer students from September 14th - September 18th. The Summer Experience is a virtual enrichment program designed to help you transition to UC San Diego so that you can:
- Meet other Hope Scholars and BUILD Community
- SUCCEED instead of just SURVIVE at UC San Diego!
- Build a sense of CONFIDENCE!
- Gain a sense of KNOWLEDGE and BELONGING that will help you at UC San Diego
- Meet staff, faculty, and other resources that will help you establish a long-lasting connection at UC San Diego
- Build friendships with peers and mentors that will aid in your transition process
- Belong to a support program until you graduate
Times of the Summer Experience will vary per day and will be structured to accommodate as many students’ schedules as possible.
