Math & Science Tutorial Program

The Math and Science Tutorial Program (MSTP) provides academic support to undergraduate students in lower division chemistry, math, and physics courses via workshops and drop-in tutoring.

2nd Year Experience (2YE)

2YE/2Excel is a retention and support program serving 2nd year students at UCSD. The program is a yearlong commitment which provides holistic support through personal, academic and professional development with a special focus on 2nd year challenges. Support is provided through Peer Mentoring, Two unit Winter Seminar, partnership with multiple enrichment opportunities and access to special programming and events catered to the needs of 2nd year students.

Student employment opportunities would consist of  2YE Peer Mxntors which are expected to

  • Full time, academic year commitment
  • Attend all Peer Mentor training in Summer 2026
  • Attend quarterly  Bi-Weekly staff meetings during the year
  • Provide peer mentoring and assistance to all assigned students  
  • Conduct at group mentee meetings each quarter
  • Follow-up on assigned student’s status regarding housing, financial aid, and classes
  • Build and maintain meaningful, trusting relationships with students and staff
  • Complete required mentoring documentation in a timely manner
  • Have availability for 2Connect drop-in mentoring
  • Actively participate and assist in the implementation of all 2nd Year Experience activities
  • Maintain an atmosphere conducive to studying and educational pursuits
  • Maintain respectful team building attitudes and demeanor

Training for the program will take place summer.  If selected, mentors will need to be available for September training. Applications for the 26-27 academic year will open in Spring 26.
