As an advocate for basic needs and mental health I joined Warren College Student Council, Student Mental Health Advisory Committee, and Commission of Warren Spirit in order to represent the unique needs of the TRIO students. I have created campus events from wellness fairs, yoga events, guided meditation, and more. While mentoring for Summer experience, I hosted multiple game nights and study jams for TRIO/Oasis students to stay engaged and focused on their academic and mental health goals. I planned and hosted a workshop for TRIO SSSP in partnership with CAPS on procrastination. Educating students on the tools that will help them overcome their personal and academic challenges is my passion and this is evident in the number of activities I have hosted on top of my work as a peer mentor.
I’m a volunteer Team Leader with GRID Alternatives and have worked on over 30 installations. GRID Alternatives installs solar electric systems on low-income people’s homes at no cost to the family. The mission is to make renewable energy equitable. Solar energy and solar jobs should be accessible to everyone.
During her experience navigating Italy as a Black woman, Kristina was a leader amongst her cohort of students and made sure that folks were safe when they were out abroad. Being one of the only Black women on the trip did not stop her from speaking her truth to professors and program staff to make sure that needs were met by her cohort mates.
