Upon acceptance into TRIO Student Support Services Program (SSSP), you will be provided with the following services throughout the academic year (until graduation):
Upon request, students are matched with a personal tutor for regularly scheduled appointments throughout the quarter. Tutors are available to assist you in a variety of subjects that include math, biology, chemistry, physics, and writing.
TRIO SSSP mentors are assigned to help students with a variety of academic, social and personal concerns. Every first-year student in the program (freshmen and transfers) will be assigned to a mentor. Your mentor will be able to assist you in your transition to UC San Diego, to serve as a resource for academic and campus information, and to be an overall advocate for your academic and social successes.
Professional counseling is available to assist SSSP students in a variety of areas, including personal advising/ development, career exploration, and graduate school preparation and planning.
TRIO SSSP offers a number of workshops and activities that aid in the holistic development of its students. These workshops and activities range from academic, cultural, and self-development.
Examples of workshops and activities offered:
As a First Year TRIO SSSP student, you will participate in the TRIO Learning Community. This will be a weekly seminar each quarter of your first year at UCSD.
The Learning Community will be a place where you will meet with other First Year students to learn about essential campus resources and tips to excel at UC San Diego.
As a Transfer TRIO SSSP student, you will participate in the TRIO Learning Community. This will be a weekly 50-minute seminar for your first two quarters at UCSD.
The Learning Community will be a place where you will meet with other first year Transfer students to learn about essential campus resources and develop strategies for your success during your transition to UC San Diego.
