EDS 23

2Connect, a program under the 2nd Year Experience, aims for retention and support serving 2nd year students at UCSD. The program is a year-long commitment starting fall through spring quarter. Participation is self- directed, following your individual needs.

2Connect provides holistic support through personal, academic, and professional development.

How to participate:

  • You must be a second-year student who entered UC San Diego as a freshman to apply to the program (no transfer students)
  • Looking to apply for 2025- 2026 academic year? Registration is NOW OPEN! The application is OPEN year round.

2Connect Program Benefits Include:

PRESENTATIONS

Attend targeted workshops and presentations covering psycho-social issues; you'll also learn about campus resources such as studying abroad, undergraduate research, career development, and more.

 

Peer Mentorship / Drop-In Basis

You have the opportunity to meet and scheudle one to ones with an upperclass classmate who is in a similar major or field of interest.

Professional Staff Support and Advising

Partcipation in 2Connect provides you the opportunity to connext with 2YE professional staff. Meeting with staff can help guide you and direct you to the appropriate resources. 

EDS 23 (Winter Quarter Seminar)

Active participation of Fall Punch Card gives priority enrollment to Education Studies 23 (EDS 23) in Winter Quarter.  EDS 23 is a 2-unit, pass/no-pass course that focuses on college students' second year of higher education, the challenges that you confront during this period, and alternative solutions to those challenges. 

Career Launch (Spring Quarter Seminar)

Active participation of Fall & Winter Punch Card gives priority to Career Launch enrollment in Spring Quarter. Career Launch is 5-week course designed to teach students how to create relationships with professionals and land the jobs and internships they want. Students who participate are twice as likely to secure a job within six months of graduation!

OASIS Alumni Mentorship

You're encouraged to participate in the OASIS Alumni Mentorship program where you can be matched to an alumni in a similar major and/or career field.

A Supportive Process to Review and (Re)establish Goals

You are directed to explore goals setting — academic, personal and social goals — as part of the seminar process and during the length of your participation in the program.
