What are the workshops?
The workshops are structured group learning study- sessions, which are led by a tutor that explains course concepts as well as encourage a collaborative learning environment. Each workshop session is 2 hours and meets once or twice a week. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. Most workshops are course specific and pace a particular professor or lecture.

How do I sign up for a workshop?
Applications are available tenth week of the current quarter for the next quarter. Sign up for desired workshop by filling out the subject appropriate application (workshop schedules and applications are located at Center Hall 3rd floor). You must sign up only for your professor or lecture unless otherwise noted. All applications are color coded by subject. Once you have completely filled out the application, return it to the bin located directly below the applications. Be sure to fill out all portions of the application or it will not be processed. Depending on the volume of applications and the fullness of the workshops, we may not accept applications after 3rd week so be sure to get your applications in early.

When do I find out if I’ve been admitted to a workshop?
An admit list is posted Friday of Welcome Week (Fall) or Friday of the 1st week of classes (Winter & Spring). This list will indicate your admission and waitlist status. You CANNOT just show up to a workshop, UNLESS you have been admitted. It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to check the updated list on the Mondays of 2nd and 3rd week. If you see “Admitted” next to your name, you have been admitted and must show up to your next scheduled workshop. If you see “Waitlist” next to your name or your name is not on the list, please check back according to the Friday update schedule. From 4th week on, the list is no longer posted. If you are still on the waitlist or apply for a workshop after this time, you will ONLY receive an email notification ONLY if a space is being offered to you.

When do workshops begin?

  • Fall Quarter: 2nd Week
  • Winter Quarter: 2nd Week
  • Spring Quarter: 2nd Week
Can I be dropped from a workshop?
Yes, you can be dropped from a workshop. If you miss workshop more than 2 times, you may be dropped from your workshop. If you have been admitted to a workshop and don’t show up until a week later and have missed two sessions, you will be dropped.

What is expected of me in workshop?

  • Good attendance
  • On Time
  • Good Attitude
  • Ready to work in groups
  • Participation
  • Respect for workshop leader and peers
  • Dedication
What if I have a conflict with a workshop time?
Although you may still apply, priority is given to students who can make all hours of the workshop. Due to the emphasis on collaborative learning in workshop, students arriving late or leaving early are disruptive to the learning environment.
