Other Requirements for Jobs at OASIS

OASIS’ mission includes a priority on contributing to first-generation, working class, and underrepresented students. Such students make a significant, positive contribution to UCSD’s campus climate and the educational environment for all students.

All student counselors, mentors, tutors, and workshop leaders at OASIS should have an understanding of and appreciation for diversity and equity in education. In addition, OASIS’ mission includes an emphasis on preparing UCSD students for the benefits and challenges of engaging a diverse society. Thus we hope that all OASIS staff members (professionals and students) have a commitment to social justice and cultural competence.

All OASIS student staff must maintain good academic standing. Counselors and mentors must maintain a 2.75 GPA while tutors and workshop leaders must maintain a 3.0 GPA. Exceptions can be made for extenuating circumstances (for example, students who change majors after struggling initially in a major inappropriate for them.)

All OASIS student staff must be committed to support the learning of UCSD students.
